As described by Space.com in 2009, “The mission’s science instrument, called a photometer, contains the largest camera ever flown in space. Its 42 charge-coupled devices (CCDs) will detect slight dips in starlight, which occur when planets passing in front of their stars partially block the light from Kepler’s view.”
On July 30 and 31 the moon was below the Summer Triangle all night. In 2015, we enjoyed a full moon on the first day of July and experience an encore on the last day of the month. The encore was known as a Blue Moon, for the relative rarity of the occasion. Moonrise occured at 8:14 p.m. on the 31st.

This astronomy article isn't so easy to understand. The field of astronomy is far away from me. Since I only know few knowledge about outer space. And having the chance to use the space telescope one day is one of my wish. Without this kind of device, I can only use my naked eyes to eye the sky. Now, light pollution is so serious that it always affects the quality of astronomical observations. It's not that easy to see the starry sky.
回覆刪除Because of the serious light pollution, it's hard to find stars in city.I only see stars on the pictures .If one day I can see those beautiful stars and planet by myself, it must be a perfect experience.
回覆刪除It's pleasant to hear that we take a stride in universe. However,I agree with what my friend said," The further we explore the universe, the smaller we feel about ourselves." In the earth, human being is such a strong people that dominates the world；however, in the universe, the earth is merely a plant among the numerous ones, and the galaxy has numerous plants as well. It's glad that we know more about the universe, and perhaps one day we can fulfill the dream to live on other plants.
